Jennea Potter
Owner and Director

Music was an integral part of Jennea Potter’s upbringing, and some of her best childhood memories are those of family gatherings with everyone playing an instrument and singing their favorites.  These experiences inspired her to begin studying piano and music theory at the age of five.  Throughout her twelve years of piano training, she won several medals for Texas Music Teachers Association State Theory exams, National Piano Guild adjudications, and Sonatina festivals.  She began teaching private piano and early childhood music classes in 1992 and continued to teach in her spare time while working as a Knowledge Management consultant for PricewaterhouseCoopers.

In 2001, Jennea began teaching music classes full-time and founded Little Musicmaker® which provides quality, early childhood music education at child care facilities, Montessori schools, her private studio and various additional locations in the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.  She is a member of the MTNA, TMTA, FWMTA, National Guild of Piano Teachers, and a registered Music Together® teacher.  Her mission is to provide fun, memorable experiences which will introduce children to the many benefits of music-making.

You can contact Jennea directly at mailto:jennea@littlemusicmaker.com.

Merri Meriwether
Instructor

Merri Meriwether grew up in a small town in West Texas called Earth, Texas.  She studied piano for five years and played in numerous recitals all over Texas.  In the 5th grade, she began playing the flute and continued through her senior year.  She was first chair every year and Band President her Senior year.  She was also a member of the National Honor Society.

Merri graduated from Springlake – Earth High School and attended West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas, where she graduated in 1986 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with Reading as a minor.  For the last five years, she has been a volunteer for the HOSTS program at Webb Elementary in Arlington and an elementary school in Irving for one year.  She began teaching with Little Musicmaker in January 2005, and she is a wonderful asset and an amazing teacher.  Merri has been teaching Sunday School at St. John Lutheran Church in Mansfield, Texas, for 3 years – two years in Kindergarten and one year with the 2 year olds.

Merri, her husband and daughter have lived in Mansfield for 12 years and enjoy the small town feel.   Her daughter, Maci, has taken music instruction since she was 3 1/2 years old, and currently, she is taking private piano lessons.

Merri says, "I enjoy working and playing with children.  To see their faces light up with excitement over learning has always been what drives me to continue the pursuit.  The ages from birth to 5 years old are so critical – it is imperative that they are introduced to reading, writing, music, laughter, goofiness, rhythm and beats, imaginative games, and so many coordination themes.  I feel that I am able to meet that challenge and get down on their level and teach them how fun it is to learn."
