Exploring the Potential of Children through the JOY of Music

Is my child too young to begin music classes?

Years ago, parents would have been informed that their child should wait until six or seven years old to begin music classes.  However, research gathered over the last twenty years shows that the best time to introduce music to a child is during the opening years of his or her life
In the same way that a child does not wait until the age of five or six to learn his native language, children can do remarkably well in music when beginning at a very early age.

What does the Little Musicmaker curriculum entail?

Through a combination of storytelling with puppet characters, lively singing and fun musical games, concepts such as music theory, rhythm activities, music appreciation, learning new songs, composition and introduction to various instruments with an emphasis on keyboard/piano are taught.  (The curriculum for private lessons is designed specifically to meet the needs of each student and varies depending on age and goals.)

What does the Music Together® curriculum entail?

Music Together is a research-based curriculum built on your child's natural enthusiasm for music and movement.  Each songbook collection includes songs and chants balanced for tonality, meter, movement, voice development and type of activity.  Every class includes songs in non-major tonalities and unusual meters, songs without words, rhythm and melody instruments, movement activities, and a variety of rhythm and tonal patterns.  Please visit www.musictogether.com for more information.
